ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two employees sustained moderate acid burns from a chemical release at Louisiana Pigment’s Bayou D’Inde Road plant — Westlake — on July 27th and were treated while plant management said the incident posed no risk to the public. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Two people were injured by a chemical release at the Louisiana Pigment facility on July 28+ local officials began investigating the incident. 7 KPLC
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Venture Global wrapped up financing for its second LNG export terminal — Calcasieu Pass 2 in Cameron Parish — and the facility will begin production in 2027 with 400 permanent workers. The Advocate
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Four individuals were arrested in Jennings for allegedly stealing bronze and copper plaques from 15 graves at Greenwood Cemetery—damage totaled about $25,000 and authorities linked suspect Cole Bienvenu to additional theft of electrical wire at a local construction site. 7 KPLC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Francis G. Bulber Youth Orchestra has opened registration for fall 2025 classes that teach music skills to children ages 8 to 18 at a fee of $200 per student plus $175 for the second child and $150 for each additional child. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays with start times near 4 p.m. or 5 p.m., and registration will close on August 15. 7 KPLC
