- ➤ The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday night that Johnathan Simien (18) of Lake Arthur was booked for second-degree murder and illegal carrying/discharge of weapons after a homicide investigation, with bond yet to be set. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Louisiana lawmakers are considering a bill that would require cameras in special-education classrooms and ban secluding students after outbursts. The House Education Committee approved the proposal and advocates say the law will strengthen protections for students — a shift coming after audits found that schools used restraints without oversight.
