  • Students from Grand Lake Elementary had their ornament designs chosen for display at the White House as part of the 2025 National Christmas Tree Experience. Their originals are exhibited at Historical City Hall in Lake Charles while replicas are showcased at the event.  The American Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • In Iowa, La. the police department put a holiday twist on minor violations by giving drivers $30 gift cards instead of citations; Staff Sgt. Johnson (20+ years with the department) led the team that distributed 75 cards donated by local businesses to ease drivers' worries this season.  7 KPLC

HEALTH NEWS

  • LSU AgCenter food safety specialist Shannon Coleman advises holiday hosts to keep hot foods above 140°F and cold foods below 40°F by using approved tools for temperature control (such as coolers and warming mats) to prevent food poisoning; he also emphasizes regular handwashing and following tested recipes for safe food preservation.  The Advocate
