- ➤ The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will provide extra security at Prien Lake Mall for holiday shoppers as trained reserve deputies volunteer to help with car troubles and escort employees — the service will run from Black Friday until Dec. 26 daily from noon until an hour past mall closing. 7 KPLC

- ➤ The McNeese Cowboys held off a comeback by George Washington 92-86 in the opener of the Cayman Islands Classic Sunday as key free throws by Garcia and Colbert sealed the win—extending their three-game winning streak.
