- ➤ Today, free Thanksgiving meal giveaways are available in Lake Charles with food baskets offered at Christians of Eternal Faith from 9 to 11 a.m. and meal boxes provided at South City Christian Church at 11 a.m.—one box per car for families of four to six. A red beans and rice luncheon will be held on November 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 333 V.E. Washington Ave and a Thanksgiving feast will be served on November 27 starting at 11 a.m. at Wang Sistas until all food is served. 7 KPLC
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A new air show will take place in Lake Charles when Thunder Over Louisiana Air Show is set for August 28 to August 30, 2026 at Chennault International Airport. Advanced tickets for Air Show Insights members will be sold on December 13, 2025 at 8:00 a.m., and the general public can purchase tickets starting December 16, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. Gator 99.5
- ➤ The Nutcracker has been a Lake Charles tradition since 1963 and Lake Area Ballet Theatre brings the holiday classic to Rosa Hart Theater today. The ballet will perform shows at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. — tickets are available at the Event Center box office and online. The American Press

- ➤ Voters rejected an $83M bond issue meant to fund repairs and add a larger band room at Sulphur schools & officials now plan to review their options for future improvements. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Calcasieu Public Library is hosting holiday programs for kids, teens, and adults from November 24 through December 11—events include a teen escape room challenge, children’s stuffed animal adoption and rescue vehicle study, vision board sessions, and a holiday cookie recipe exchange at several branches. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Sulphur voters rejected an $83 million school bond issue on November 21—this decision halts planned funding for local schools and will require officials to review new options. 7 KPLC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Jeff Davis Electric Co-op restored permanent grid power on Nov. 19 after hurricanes Laura and Delta damaged the system—this marked the end of weeks using generated power and is the last step before additional substations and a transmission line loop from Hackberry to Lake Charles are completed. The project used over 1,000 steel poles built to withstand high winds and is expected to finish next year. 7 KPLC
- ➤ The Lake Charles Fire Department graduated its first EMT class designed for firefighters — a milestone that strengthens their emergency response skills. The course finished last week and shows the department's commitment to public safety. 7 KPLC
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ McNeese State Cowboys are heading to Beaumont today at 3 p.m. for their season finale against the Lamar Cardinals—McNeese, at 4—7 (3—4 in conference), needs a win to finish at .500 while Lamar, at 8—3 (5—2 in conference), will honor 32 seniors before the game. A win could boost Lamar’s FCS playoff hopes and give McNeese a chance to break a two-game losing streak in their heated rivalry. The American Press
- ➤ McNeese will travel to Beaumont tomorrow to face Lamar in the Battle of the Border after last season's on-field fight—game time is set with a 2:00 p.m. pregame and a 3:00 p.m. kickoff, and fans can listen on 92.9 FM for coverage. Gator 99.5
- ➤ Lake Arthur's Slade Legros finished his high school career on a high note at the state swim meet at Sulphur Parks and Recreation Aquatic Center—he defended his 100-yard freestyle title in 50.24 seconds and earned runner-up in the 100 backstroke while collecting four state medals. - ➤ The All Pro Tour event is underway at L’Auberge Casino Resort where players compete for a $20,000 prize and the top ten finishers will soon vie for a $50,000 nine‑hole showdown.
