- ➤ Maplewood United Methodist Church in Sulphur returned to regular services after finishing its new Family Life Center with community donations and insurance funds—Pastor James Moore said the nearly one million dollar project features a meeting room, a fellowship hall, three Sunday school rooms, and two offices at the corner of Maplewood Drive, marking a fresh start for the church and community. 7 KPLC

CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ LaFleur Park Beach on Interstate 210, once devastated by vandalism in the mid-1970s, was restored in 1981—state and federal funds added a boat launch, rebuilt restrooms and road upgrades—and it now remains one of the best spots in the area. The American Press

- ➤ On Saturday, Nicholls ended a six-game losing streak by beating McNeese 31-7 at Guidry Stadium in Thibodaux. Backup quarterback Ean Rodrigue led the Colonels to a season-high 464 yards — a win that moved Nicholls to 2-6 as McNeese also fell to 2-6 overall. The American Press
