  • Lake Charles' popular Mistletoe & Moss Holiday Market will return from November 14th through November 16th at the Lake Charles Event Center, and the Junior League of Lake Charles, Inc. will host the three-day event featuring a variety of vendors offering products from boutiques to antiques.  Gator 99.5
  • Goosport park has been transformed for Halloween with spooky decorations and themed displays setting a festive tone for the holiday. Local organizers said visitors can expect family-friendly activities throughout the season — bringing the community together for seasonal fun.  7 KPLC
  • Today, the Kiwanis Club of Lake Charles hosts its 36th Coats for Kids Spooktacular at Crying Eagle Brewing University locations—featuring nearly 30 festival activities and raffles to support its winter coat drive for local children in need. Donors who bring a new or gently used coat receive a complimentary drinking glass, beverage token and raffle ticket as the club aims to raise $50,000 while collecting coats until the week before Thanksgiving.  The American Press

CRIME NEWS

  • On Oct. 23, authorities cited two Cameron shrimpers for violations and seized 2,000 lbs of shrimp during an inspection—further enforcement actions are being reviewed.  7 KPLC
  • On Oct 14, LDWF agents cited two Cameron shrimpers, Lawrence Mallet and Sky Leger, for illegally using nets to block fish passages in Mud Bayou — a violation that can lead to fines from $250 to $500 and up to 90 days in jail — after seizing over 2,000 lbs of shrimp.  7 KPLC

  • Rock legend Gene Simmons will perform at L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles on Feb. 20, 2026. Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. — Simmons is known for co-founding Kiss and has played with his band for 50 years.  7 KPLC
  • Aaron Lewis will perform in Lake Charles on Saturday, February 7th at the Golden Nugget’s Grand Event Center as part of his 2026 American Tour — tickets go on sale today for guests aged 21 and older.  Gator 99.5

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Wade Rousse, President of McNeese, was named one of the top five candidates for the LSU presidency during a meeting this afternoon+ he said he is exploring the opportunity to impact higher education in Louisiana following former LSU President William Tate's departure.  7 KPLC
  • More than 2,000 middle school students from Calcasieu, Cameron and Allen parishes gathered at the Lake Charles Event Center on Thursday, October 23 to learn about science through hands-on experiments at the Chemo Expo. Hosted by the Lake Area Industry Alliance, the event resumed after a COVID-19 pause and inspired both students and former attendees who now work as scientists—boosting interest in science careers.  7 KPLC
  • McNeese State University reminds incoming & returning students that a one-stop shop at the university library offers tutoring, academic advising, and workshops on time management and study strategies to support academic success. Dr. Tiffanie Goff, the Executive Director of Student Success & Retention, said students are encouraged to ask for help since college is less structured than high school.  7 KPLC

  • Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory urges parents to discuss safety plans with their children before trick-or-treating and advises homeowners to clear their yards to prevent falls—he also recommends that families travel in groups and check online for registered sex offenders to ensure safe routes for Halloween. REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Capstone at the Oaks, a new affordable senior living community, will be move-in ready in December at 2401 Sixth Street and offers 120 one bedroom and two bedroom apartments with support services and hot meals — officials say the project meets a growing need for senior housing. Applicants must be at least 62 and have a fixed income — disaster funds following the 2020 hurricanes helped make the project possible.  7 KPLC
