- ➤ Residents at Highland Meadows say that since Magnolia Water took over, they have experienced worsening water quality with low pressure, brown water, and bills that nearly doubled over the past two years. Residents say these problems make basic tasks difficult—no effective communication about repairs or advisories has been provided. 7 KPLC
- ➤ The Women’s Commission of Southwest Louisiana held its 35th Annual Women’s Fall Conference at the Lake Charles Event Center where six-time Olympic medalist Jackie Joyner Kersee told women to work hard and stay true to who they are — conference chair Dorothy Lager said the event featured workshops, retail therapy and talks that brought women together and will set the stage for next year’s conference. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Lake Charles’ premier music event Chuck Fest returns on Saturday in downtown Lake Charles — the free festival features local musicians performing on multiple stages with shows starting at noon on the Ryan Street stage and continuing throughout the day. The American Press
- ➤ Lake Charles announced its holiday schedule at the Historic City Hall Arts and Cultural Center on Wednesday, featuring events from ballet performances of The Nutcracker from November 20 to 22 to a Light Up the Lake celebration on November 29, a free Christmas Movie Night, and a holiday art stroll. The calendar also lists a free outdoor Christmas jazz concert and a spooky Art in the Park event on October 18—plans set to bring local cheer throughout the season. The American Press
- ➤ Billy Ocean will perform at L'Auberge Event Center in Lake Charles on Saturday, March 28 at 8:00 p.m.—he will sing his famous chart-topping hits in a one-night-only show. Gator 99.5

- ➤ The Chem Expo will take place on Oct. 23 at the Lake Charles Event Center—2,600 middle school students from Calcasieu, Cameron, and Allen Parishes will see hands-on experiments and learn about chemical and mechanical engineering careers. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Lake Charles reported that water problems worsened last night and are demanding clear answers from local officials, who said they will investigate the issue and plan fixes soon. 7 KPLC
- ➤ A Cameron Parish judge ruled that state officials did not consider climate impacts and harm to wetlands when they approved the permit for the Commonwealth LNG export terminal, halting its construction. The permit will be reworked to include environmental justice and climate concerns before work can resume—officials must complete a new review. 7 KPLC
