- ➤ A Sulphur family business is hosting its third annual pumpkin patch at Sulphur Dirt and Rock with new pumpkin varieties, a game area for kids, and photo spots by vintage trucks to celebrate fall spirit. The event runs Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. — Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. 7 KPLC

- ➤ On Nov. 16, 1917, 265 enlisted mechanics and 16 flyers arrived by train to begin training at the new Lake Charles aviation camp Gerstner Field (located 11 miles south on La. 27). The Daily American-Press reported that while rumors spread of an immediate government takeover, contractors planned to finish the camp in two weeks. The American Press
- ➤ Thursday night, the new DPR Gallery opened at 104 W Pujo St. in downtown Lake Charles—featuring the Rebirth exhibit by Peregrine Honig, which will be available for viewing until Dec. 31. Local partners who renovated the former Botsky’s suite aim to add a vibrant creative space to downtown and boost the region’s art scene. The American Press

- ➤ Lake Charles College Prep beat Jennings 43-32 on Friday at Navarre Stadium by outscoring them 24-12 in the fourth quarter — Jeffery Nevills scored the go-ahead touchdown while Ayden Carter sealed the win with an 85-yard kickoff return. Coach Erick Franklin praised the team’s effort and highlighted Carter’s 253 rushing yards on 27 carries for his fifth straight high-yard game. The American Press
