People First — a national self-advocacy group expanding in southwest — is working to improve accessibility and job opportunities for residents with disabilities.
The group will hold White Cane Day on Oct. 14 behind Port Wonder and plans to meet monthly at CARC for members to connect and share resources.
SWLA families celebrated the annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk yesterday in Lake Charles, where community members joined together to honor the talents and contributions of those with Down syndrome.
Ryan Street in downtown Lake Charles buzzed with energy as Fall Fest took place, with vendors selling clothes, keychains, and candles in partnership with Meet Me @ the Market plus the Charlestown Farmers Market.
Locals and visitors enjoyed a vibrant community day.

I-10 East in Lake Charles was closed past LA 397, known as Pujol Road, due to an overturned semitruck, & officials advised drivers to take alternate routes.
