- ➤ Today, Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder begins a four-day carnival offering free family fun with rides, games, and food vendors—families may also purchase ride-all-day wristbands for $30 as the event runs through October 12. Gator 99.5

- ➤ October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and local advocates report that 51 intimate partner deaths occurred in Louisiana in the past year, warning that leaving an abusive relationship is dangerous since 75% of women are killed during that time & noting that shelter bed capacity has nearly doubled since 2021. 7 KPLC
- ➤ McNeese State University and local law enforcement opened a criminal investigation on Wednesday after learning of an alleged hazing involving Kappa Sigma Fraternity—no further details have been released. The American Press
- ➤ McNeese State University officials said they are investigating an alleged hazing incident at the Kappa Sigma house that occurred at 5:25 p.m. Oct. 7 and that the McNeese Police Department is working with local law enforcement while the university conducts an internal probe. 7 KPLC
