- ➤ Catholic New Iberia beat Lake Charles College Prep 49 to 42 on Friday, Oct. 3 at Max Caldarera Memorial Stadium in Westlake—Layton Mitchell made a key tackle as his team secured the win in a top 10 battle. The American Press
- ➤ Friday night, Catholic-New Iberia used three onside kicks to score 21 points and beat Lake Charles College Prep 49—42 in a top 10 matchup. Lake Charles College Prep will regroup for next week's District 3-3A opener against Jennings as head coach Erick Franklin said he had never seen such a series of plays. The American Press
- ➤ On Oct. 3, Southside prep football beat Barbe 39 to 28 with standout plays from Parker Dias and Rollin Francois — other local games showed varied results as teams like Lafayette and Sulphur experienced wins and losses. The American Press
- ➤ Junior and high school anglers competed in the Louisiana Youth Bass Tournament in Moss Bluff on Saturday, showing their skills on the Calcasieu River. Many participants earned scholarships that will help cover college costs — a boost to their future opportunities. 7 KPLC
