- ➤ Food service supervisors in local schools have submitted lunch and breakfast menus for Sept.29-Oct.3 — the meals vary by district — and they are subject to change. The American Press
- ➤ Approximately 170 students at T.H. Watkins Elementary School in Lake Charles received brand-new shoes on Friday in a giveaway coordinated by Louisiana Blue—Operation Warm and Healthy Blue Louisiana, where volunteers helped them measure their feet and choose their favorite colors. The event marked the first Operation Warm shoe giveaway in southwest Louisiana. The American Press

- ➤ Louisiana officials and federal lawmakers warn that if Congress does not extend the National Flood Insurance Program by Tuesday, real estate sales and policy renewals will freeze and funds to pay storm claims will drop — a risk as hurricane season nears.
