  • The Stars & Stripes Classic Car Show returns to Sulphur on October 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Grove at Heritage Square — car owners can register from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. while visitors will enjoy classic cars, live music, local food and kids’ activities with awards given from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Gator 99.5

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Customers at Lake Charles Auto Parts have not received their car title and instead got multiple temporary tags—this breaks the rule that a title must be issued within 60 days. The Louisiana Used Car Commission is looking into complaints as buyers like Latisha Marshall and Addyson Cutting say owner Loyd Johnson has not responded to their calls.  7 KPLC

CULTURE NEWS

  • St. Theresa Catholic Church is hosting its 49th Bon Ton Festival from Friday at 5 p.m. until Sunday at 10 p.m.—featuring live music, rides, a petting zoo, a cornhole tournament and karaoke, with over 90 vendors and free admission and parking for families.  The American Press

  • Cathy Boyer, now the principal at J.D. Clifton Elementary, spent 30 years teaching and leading schools in DeQuincy. She said every child should feel safe and valued—helping them learn and grow just as her teachers did.  The American Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles reminds residents to use the Medical/Behavior Report—available on the OMV website—to report drivers who may be medically unfit to drive. OMV staff will review reports and mail the driver a notice giving them 30 days to see a doctor to keep their license active.  7 KPLC
  • The CPRA reported that $122 million was secured for a coastal restoration project in Cameron. Officials said the funds will support rebuilding natural defenses — a key measure to protect local coastal areas.  7 KPLC

  • Local food lovers can find the best gumbo in Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana at spots like Seafood Palace, Pat's of Henderson, Mr. Bill's Seafood Express, Tad's Louisiana Cooking, and Nina P's Cafe—others were recommended by people sharing their favorite places.  Gator 99.5
