Good morning, Lake Charles.

An animal rescue organization will hold a car show in Lake Charles to support pit bull adoptions and raise awareness among local pet lovers.

The event is part of a broader effort to increase adoption rates for these dogs.

Lake Charles Pitbull Rescue held its third annual Midnight Fantasies Car Show in Sulphur on Saturday—showing off vintage and customized rides while raising funds for vaccines, food and toys for pit bulls.

Fundraising coordinator Juanita Cox said the event helped increase weekend hosting and socialization opportunities for the dogs.

The Port of Lake Charles is the nation’s 10th-largest port that handles about 1,000 vessels a year and moves over 64 million tons of cargo along its 68-mile channel — creating nearly 15,000 direct jobs and generating billions for the local economy.

The port is planning major projects such as LNG and methanol developments that will add thousands of new jobs and further boost Southwest Louisiana’s economic growth.

Southwest Louisiana therapists learned a new physical therapy treatment at a training session held yesterday—organizers say the method will improve patient recovery and care.
