ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana added new deer baiting restrictions to stop chronic wasting disease (CWD) from spreading after a buck in Catahoula Parish tested positive. The long-term rule, expected to take effect Sept. 20, creates buffer zones where hunters can use nonstationary feeding methods and stops them from moving whole deer carcasses outside the control area. - ➤ Louisiana lawmakers passed a 'one-door' policy to shift workforce development services from DCFS to the Department of Health and the Workforce Commission during the regular session, and these changes (including moving SNAP to the Department of Health) will start in October and finish by October 2027.
