- ➤ War-era plants along the Calcasieu Ship Channel produced vital materials during World War II and were designed to support a post-war economy. Cities Services Company built the Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex to produce 100-octane aviation fuel—now operated by Citgo—while Firestone Tire and Rubber Company built a plant to make synthetic rubber. - ➤ Lake Charles Memorial Hospital held its annual Fashion with Purpose Gala on Saturday at L’Auberge Casino Resort, raising about $300,000 to help cancer patients with rides, lodging and food during treatment—over 600 people attended. 7 KPLC

- ➤ McNeese State football coach Matt Viator returned yesterday after nine seasons away—he led the Cowboys from 2006 to 2015 with a 78—33 record and four conference titles. The team finished 6—6 last season and now plans to blend returning talent with new transfers as Viator works to restore its past success. The American Press
