Care Help of Sulphur received a $100,000 gift from local business owners Dub and Susan Henning to support its new food pantry opened in June.

The pantry, located behind the Care Help Thrift Store (200 N. Huntington St.), will expand food assistance to families in West Calcasieu and Cameron parishes.

On Sunday, Aug. 9, Moss Lake Partners suspended its DeLa Express pipeline project that was set to transport wet natural gas from the Permian Basin to Moss Bluff in Calcasieu Parish — the company will now develop a strictly Texas-based route to carry dry gas.

Calcasieu tourism reached 7.5 million visitors in 2025 with a 6.7% rise from 2023 and produced about $900 million, boosting hotels+restaurants+attractions across the community.
