- ➤ A four-vehicle crash on U.S. 171 on July 31 near 10 a.m. left a Lake Charles man dead and three others injured when a Ford Focus hit a vehicle stopped at a red light at the Medora Street intersection—officers said the unrestrained 43-year-old passenger, Freddie Brown, died at the scene while the Focus driver was seriously hurt and two other drivers were treated for minor injuries. 7 KPLC

- ➤ The SWLA Economic Development Alliance held the 2025 State of SWLA Breakfast at Horseshoe Casino in Westlake last Thursday — a meeting that shared a blueprint for economic growth with plans for LNG, energy and logistics investments.
