- ➤ Woodside Louisiana completed selling a 40% interest in its under-construction LNG terminal near Lake Charles to Stonepeak on Tuesday—Stonepeak provided about $1.9 billion as part of a $5.7 billion capital plan that CEO Meg O’Neill said will boost the project's progress ahead of future cargo from Western Australia later this year. - ➤ U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins and Congressman Mike Ezell introduced a bill on June 25 to help Coast Guard veterans move into dredging jobs that support our ports— the Industrial Certification for Coast Guard Veterans Act— which asks DHS to study how veterans’ skills match the work and to plan training programs. - ➤ Louisiana officials filed lawsuits against CVS after mass texts sent on June 11 warned residents about a bill and harmed independent pharmacies. Governor Jeff Landry and Attorney General Liz Murrill said CVS used misleading scare tactics and they plan to work on new laws + the lawsuits were filed on June 23 and June 24. 7 KPLC
- ➤ A new Louisiana law will go into effect on August 1 and let law enforcement ticket drivers in the left lane who are driving one mile per hour below the limit—first offense fines are $150, second offenses $250 and third offenses $350 with possible jail time. Sen. Jay Luneau, who authored the law, said it will give officers better tools to reduce dangerous slow driving on multi-lane highways. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Louisiana will hold closed party primaries for key races on April 18, 2026—with a runoff on May 30, 2026—for a U.S. Senate seat, six U.S. House races, a state Supreme Court contest and two Public Service Commission seats. The state will also hold a closed primary for the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education election on April 17, 2027 with a runoff on May 29, 2027 as No Party voters may choose one party contest to vote in.
