  • Authorities said one person was hospitalized and several businesses—including a massage spa and flower shop—on West McNeese Street showed bullet damage from an overnight shooting around 3 a.m. Saturday, with police reporting no arrests and an ongoing investigation.  7 KPLC

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Lake Charles hunters face challenges from Hurricane Laura as tree debris blocks trails—allowing invasive species to spread in the local forests.  7 KPLC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers passed auto and property insurance reforms during the legislative session that include limits on comparative fault and require insurers to itemize premium charges (a step toward transparency). Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple said one measure (Act 11) is unnecessary because he already can reject excessive rates.  7 KPLC

SPORTS NEWS

  • Matt Nicholas led the first round of the Lake Charles City Championship on Friday at Mallard Golf Club with a score of 69 that put him three under par—he hit five birdies on the front nine even though his back nine saw some bogeys. He said his steady play gave him an edge against a tough field of younger golfers.  The American Press
