  • Three people were arrested for cockfighting in Beauregard Parish after detectives acted on a tip about a suspected fight location on Roy L Ashworth Road in Starks—Dusty Vallot, a former Jeanerette police chief, faces charges of cockfighting and aggravated cruelty to animals, and another suspect was arrested in May.  7 KPLC
  • Federal immigration agents arrested 84 people on Tuesday morning at Delta Downs—alleging that businesses hired unauthorized workers—and processed them at the Lake Charles Border Patrol Station while investigating related criminal conduct.  7 KPLC

  • Residents are urged to assemble a financial emergency kit with cash and credit cards to be prepared if payment machines fail after a hurricane.
