  • KPLC Chief Meteorologist Wade Hampton is featured in Southwest Louisiana’s Thrive magazine Hurricane Guide special edition—he joined KPLC six weeks before Hurricane Rita in 2005 and has led our weather team since 2008.  7 KPLC
  • SWLA will host several Fourth of July events with a Lake Charles celebration featuring a patriotic concert, live music, food trucks, an armed forces salute, and fireworks over the lake on July 4th — nearby parishes will offer a fishing rodeo starting July 5th, local races, and contests from July 3rd to July 6th as part of the America250 program.  7 KPLC

CRIME NEWS

  • Human remains were discovered in the 5400 block of U.S. 90 West in Vinton around 7 a.m. June 16th—detectives, the Forensic Investigation Unit, and Vinton Police processed the scene while the Coroner’s Office took the remains for further testing.  The American Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Lake Charles Community Band held its interactive summer show Fright Night at 6 p.m. on Monday at the Rosa Heart Theater in the Lake Charles Event Center where audience members wore Halloween costumes. The band will hold its next themed concert—Color Pallette—at 6 p.m. on June 23 at Tritico Theater with guests invited to wear vibrant outfits.  The American Press
  • On Monday, June 16, the Coushatta Tribe held a moccasin-making workshop—teaching almost 20 members, including local participant Thunder John of Lake Charles, how to craft traditional footwear to connect with their heritage. Skilled artisans led the session—explaining the steps to create moccasins for powwows and everyday use.  The American Press
  • Lake Charles Little Theatre will host Tony ‘N Tina’s Weddings — an immersive dinner comedy show where the audience becomes guests at an 80s Italian-American wedding reception — from Friday, June 20 through Sunday, June 22.  7 KPLC
