CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kevin E. Williams, 26, of Lake Charles was sentenced on June 6 to life in prison without probation for killing Damarcus Ardoin during an armed robbery in Westlake — he also received a consecutive 25-year sentence for obstructing justice. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Nearly five years after 17-year-old Kyla Hidalgo and 18-year-old Kaleb Charlton were shot to death in Westlake, pretrial motions are underway regarding charges against Neil Patrick Broussard and his wife Tori — though no trial dates have been set — as the case moves forward. 7 KPLC
- ➤ A 22-year-old driver from Lake Charles, Jonjon Michael Comeaux, was arrested Sunday night after he evaded police and crashed his car into the steps of the Old Calcasieu Courthouse near the intersection of Ryan and Louie streets—deputies later found drugs and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle. 7 KPLC

- ➤ West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital is offering summer community events for local residents. The hospital will host a free healthy cooking demonstration on Tuesday, July 15 at 11 a.m. in Sulphur and is also providing Safe Sitter babysitting classes for 11- to 13-year-olds—held on Tuesday, July 15 at Dynamic Dimensions in Sulphur and on Wednesday, July 16 at Dynamic Dimensions in Moss Bluff for $35. 7 KPLC
