GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A review of the Calcasieu Parish Courthouse dome in 1977 revealed that its green copper covering is not a solid mass but a veneer over an arched steel structure with tin inside. The state expects to finalize the process by the end of this year—followed by phased implementation next year—while some experts worry about less public transparency.  The American Press
  • Louisiana lawmakers passed a bill drafted by Gov. Jeff Landry’s lawyer that would give those accused of ethics violations more opportunities to defend themselves—critics warn the changes could reduce public oversight by increasing control of the ethics board.
