- ➤ At SOWELA Technical Community College, students can transfer their SACSCOC-accredited associate degree credits to four-year schools through Louisiana transfer degrees and sixteen transfer agreements—helping them enter bachelor’s programs as juniors while saving money. - ➤ The Sulphur City Council voted at a special meeting to fund Region 5 STEM summer camps that serve hundreds of parish students — Mayor Mike Danahay said the funds will cover teachers’ salaries and support program expansion in collaboration with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Louisiana’s Senate Bill 14 passed unanimously and now heads to Gov. Landry’s desk, setting new nutrition rules for schools, food manufacturers, and restaurants. The law will ban certain additives from school meals starting (2027-2028), require QR codes on food labels and seed oil disclosure in menus in 2028, and add one hour of nutrition training for healthcare providers beginning January 1, 2026.
