- ➤ Former elections supervisor Mark Simon was arrested on Jan. 14 in Lake Charles for allegedly forging documents in 2023 to dissolve a business he co-owned but had his forgery charges dropped on March 17 as a family dispute was settled — he bonded out on $25,000 and was removed from his appointment — with local officials noting his continued volunteer service. - ➤ A Lake Charles woman has been charged with murder after an alleged altercation during a child custody dispute led to the shooting death of Brett Daigle at a South Perkins Ferry residence at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday—she was arrested and booked at Calcasieu Correctional Center as investigators continue their probe.
