- ➤ Due to rough weather, the final Downtown at Sundown concert moves indoors to Sudduth Coliseum in the Lake Charles Event Center tonight from 6 to 10:15 p.m.—performers include Louisiana Surf Department and Infinite Bus with local art vendors and food trucks present. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Masters of Illusion will perform at Golden Nugget Lake Charles on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The live show starts at 8:00 p.m. with doors opening at 7:00 p.m., welcomes all ages (21+ for alcohol) and offers grand stage illusions, comedy, and crowd interaction. Gator 99.5
- ➤ Brimstone Museum in Sulphur will host the free 9th annual Calcasieu Parish Short Film Festival on Saturday, May 30, with independent film screenings, filmmaker panels, and special presentations—featuring a Bigfoot film block and a 100th anniversary screening of The Battling Kangaroo. 7 KPLC

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Louisiana Economic Development finalized a $5.9M FastSites investment to upgrade Port of Vinton in Calcasieu Parish. The project will add a 600-foot berth plus other upgrades to boost marine capacity by 20 barges a year and support Aclara Resources’ facility, with work finishing by early 2028. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Residents in Calcasieu Parish who are served by Waste Management will have trash collected as scheduled despite government offices closing on Memorial Day (May 25). Residents should check local city schedules for any holiday sanitation changes. Gator 99.5
- ➤ On May 20, the Lake Charles City Council approved a variance that lets United Way of SWLA demolish 314 Broad St to expand its 815 Ryan St downtown facility; the nonprofit now plans to build a one-story structure with a larger sign (overturning an earlier recommendation). 7 KPLC
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The McNeese baseball team starts its SLC championship series against Lamar today, drawing local attention for the game. A standoff on Highway 165 near Pollock ended peacefully, according to Grant Parish Sheriff Steven McCain. 7 KPLC
