Lake Charles police are investigating a deadly accident on Nelson Road that occurred overnight — details about the crash remain limited.

Early Friday morning, police responded to a hit-and-run at the corner of Nelson Road (Elmer Lane) where one woman died and another was seriously injured, and suspect Christopher Landez-Navarrete was arrested on two felony hit-and-run charges.

Jordan Lee Jones, 19, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for manslaughter in connection with the drive-by shooting that killed 65-year-old Annette Touvell at her home on March 2, 2024—trials for two additional suspects are set to begin on June 9.
