- ➤ Rock icon Melissa Etheridge will perform live in Lake Charles at Golden Nugget's Grand Event Center on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:30 p.m., drawing fans from across the Gulf Coast. Gator 99.5
- ➤ The Beauregard Watermelon Festival in DeRidder is set to feature live music, contests and carnival rides from May 21 to 23. Festivalgoers will enjoy performances by Richard LeBouef, Mike Broussard and Alex Touchet along with local food and family fun. Gator 99.5

- ➤ Semifinalists in McNeese's presidential search met with alumni and staff on campus Tuesday, May 12 to discuss leadership plans for the university. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Calcasieu Parish voters will decide on proposed school bonds Saturday, May 16 to fund facility upgrades at local schools facing overcrowding and safety issues (including faulty HVAC and missing playgrounds) in select districts. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Parking downtown has worsened after a major lot at Ryan + Broad closed when variances for a new building were denied. The city will soon revamp the old Capital One Tower parking garage for public use to support local businesses and visitors. Gator 99.5
- ➤ Louisiana Representatives Carter and Higgins urged the USTR to launch a Section 301 investigation into foreign seafood practices that hurt local fishermen & seafood producers today. Industry groups support the move to level the playing field for local seafood businesses. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Three local teams competed in the Non-select Division IV baseball semifinals at McMurry Park in Sulphur on Tuesday, May 12, with No. 5 Vinton making its first appearance (historic local debut) and No. 2 Oakdale returning after 24 years as No. 1 Welsh aimed to rebound from last year's loss. - ➤ Today, McMurry Park in Sulphur hosts state championship games for the 2026 LHSAA Baseball Tournament — tickets cost $18 plus fees and games will also be broadcast on the NFHS and LHSAA networks. Gator 99.5
- ➤ McNeese and Southeastern softball teams have earned NCAA Tournament bids, marking the first time since 1997 that the Southland Conference received two bids.
