- ➤ City officials in Lake Charles hired city planner Jeff Speck to review downtown walkability—he noted that roads with wide lanes encourage speeding cars and pose risks for pedestrians and bicyclists. Officials plan to use his advice to improve both downtown and nearby residential areas in the coming years. 7 KPLC
- ➤ The DOTD announced that crews will remove a bridge on U.S. 165, so nightly closures are scheduled to allow work. U.S. 165 southbound will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on May 12 and 13 and northbound from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. on May 18 and 19—drivers should use detour routes as recommended by DOTD. 7 KPLC
