- ➤ Australia's Woodside Energy finalized its decision to invest $17.5 billion in the Louisiana LNG project at the Port of Lake Charles to build a three-train export facility expected to begin LNG exports in 2029 and create about 15,000 construction jobs (with 4,000 permanent roles later). - ➤ Louisiana teachers will be able to visit participating Whataburger restaurants from May 6 through May 10 between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. for a free breakfast if they show a valid school ID—Whataburger will also award 75 teachers with $1,000 classroom grants during National Teacher Appreciation Week to support classrooms. - ➤ Calcasieu Parish will host the Early Childhood Coordinated Enrollment Event at the Lake Charles Event Center on Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. - ➤ Entergy contractors will begin replacing utility poles today in Lake Charles, leading to daily lane closures on Illinois Street from April 30 to May 8 (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.), with additional work on Brentwood Street starting May 1, on 3rd and 4th Avenues from May 2 to May 6, and on 1st Street from May 7 to May 8 (if weather permits). 7 KPLC
- ➤ Former governors John Bel Edwards and Charlie Baker spoke Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Tritico Theatre on the McNeese campus in Lake Charles during the McLeod Lecture Series as they discussed working with opposing parties—addressing challenges and successes in government.
