EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Louisiana House passed a budget bill last week that includes about $88 million for LA GATOR—a program that helps 12,000 students including those with disabilities—while some lawmakers favor limiting it to $43.5 million until outcomes improve. Advocates say full funding will provide vital support for special ed students.  The American Press

  • The Army Corps of Engineers paused studies on home elevation projects that help manage flood risk statewide — prompting state officials to push for quick decisions as plans for elevating homes, including a recent Lake Charles project, face uncertainty.  The Advocate
