- ➤ Ashley Bass from Lake Charles and Charles Bass from Pitkin were cited on March 27 in Vernon Parish for violating turkey hunting rules by using a blind near baited feeders when wildlife agents observed them placing a decoy—violations that can lead to fines and jail time. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Almost two years after 76-year-old Sherry Vincent was raped and severely beaten in her Lake Charles home, police arrested 28-year-old Lorenzo Jackson at 9:45 a.m. today in Sulphur and he now faces charges of first-degree murder and rape with a bond set at $4 million while her demolished home makes way for a new housing complex. 7 KPLC

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Voters in Calcasieu Parish will vote on May 3 on whether to renew a half-cent sales tax that funds the sheriff’s office, including deputies’ salaries, outreach and emergency response. Early voting runs from April 19 to April 26 except Sunday, April 20 and a no vote will let the tax expire in late 2026. 7 KPLC
