ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Colorado State University researchers expect the Atlantic hurricane season to be quieter than usual as robust El Niño conditions return by summer. This lower risk may bring relief to Lake Charles — though scientists remind residents that even one major storm can have serious effects.  The Advocate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Two I-110 ramps will close overnight from today through Monday for the I-10 widening project: the North Boulevard ramp closes from 9 p.m. and the exit 1L ramp from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Additional closures on the I-10 westbound flyover will occur from April 17 to 20.  The Advocate

SPORTS NEWS

  • McNeese State replaced its women's head basketball coach in under 48 hours by hiring Ashton Feldhaus from Morehead State. Feldhaus will be introduced next week as the team looks to build on a recent 17-game turnaround.  The American Press
  • L'Auberge Lake Charles will host a women's golf championship soon, where top women golfers + local fans will see strong competition and local spirit. The event promises a fresh showcase of community sports for our area.  7 KPLC
