- ➤ On April 3, Calcasieu Correctional Center booked multiple individuals on charges ranging from domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault to drug offenses and theft — many of those arrested were from Lake Charles and nearby areas. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Severe thunderstorms — including hail, high winds and a chance for tornadoes — are forecast to hit Southwest Louisiana this weekend. Lake Charles is expected to see the storm around noon today with heavy rain that may lead to flash flooding and coastal road closures. The American Press
- ➤ Chevron was ordered by a jury to pay at least $740 million to restore coastal wetlands hurt by oil operations—this came after a trial that lasted over a decade. The decision may lead to more lawsuits against oil companies. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Love the Boot Week is the largest litter removal and beautification campaign in Louisiana and runs from April 4 to April 13 under the guidance of Keep Louisiana Beautiful with local partners hosting over 1,000 events statewide. - ➤ The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury sent a letter on Wednesday to officials in Washington, D.C. urging them to end the 45Q tax credit for carbon capture projects as they said the subsidy could risk leaks that harm drinking water and the Chicot Aquifer.
