- ➤ The search for a missing non-verbal 4-year-old in Sulphur ended — police located the child safe at a nearby residence, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said. 7 KPLC
- ➤ A booking report from Calcasieu Correctional Center on April 2 shows multiple individuals face charges including theft, domestic abuse, drug offenses and second-degree murder—others are booked for probation violations, contempt and obstructing court orders. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Lake Charles Little Theatre presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Crimes of the Heart— a dark comedy about family secrets— today at Southlake Theater, 4720 Nelson Road, with shows on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Joy Klumppace returns as director to close this season with the production. - ➤ Michelin and Travel South USA announced today that the MICHELIN Guide American South will launch in 2025 across six states—Louisiana included—with Visit Lake Charles partnering to review local restaurants for the guide. - ➤ Researchers at Colorado State University forecast an above average hurricane season for 2025 with 17 named storms + 9 hurricanes, including 4 major hurricanes, driven by warm Atlantic temperatures and a weakening La Niña; they said there is a 33% chance of a major storm striking the Gulf Coast and forecast updates will come on June 11, July 9 and Aug. 6. - ➤ Louisiana native Cade Cole will be sworn in at 5 p.m. today at the old Calcasieu courthouse as the youngest associate justice on the state Supreme Court—he ran unopposed to fill the vacancy left by former justice Jimmy Genovese. Cole, who has served as a tax judge and attorney from Lake Charles, is the second person from Calcasieu Parish in 100 years to join the court. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Today, the opening ceremonies of the 2025 Special Olympics Southwest Louisiana Area Spring Games began at 9:30 a.m. at McNeese Track Stadium in Lake Charles when law enforcement delivered the torch that athletes from 10 parishes carried around the track.
