- ➤ Yesterday, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office held an all-hazards hurricane season rehearsal at the School Board’s curriculum and instruction building with deputies and emergency planners (including school board and casino reps) to test response and evacuation plans. - ➤ The Louisiana Senate passed a bill on March 23 to ban hidden debit card fees that cost local consumers extra charges, and the new measure would allow fines of up to $500 per incident. The law (pending House approval) will take effect on Aug. 1. 7 KPLC
