- ➤ Deputies responded at about 10 a.m. Friday to a welfare check at an apartment on Winterhalter Street—where a Lake Charles mother allegedly left her four children under 6 unsupervised in a feces-covered apartment, leading to her arrest for child desertion and cruelty while the children were placed in state custody.
