- ➤ Easter 2025 celebrations will bring free egg hunts and themed festivals to Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana. Events include a citywide hunt at Hillcrest Park on April 12 from 10 a.m. to noon, a family festival at GP’s Creative Corner on April 6 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., an adult hunt with a Neon Era 80s theme on April 19, and a hunt at Heritage Square in Sulphur on April 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Gator 99.5

- ➤ Louisiana State Police confirmed one person died in a crash on La. 397 near Mary Ann Street in Calcasieu Parish Monday evening—details remain limited. 7 KPLC

- ➤ After Hurricane Laura damaged its old station on Thompson Street, Iowa’s Volunteer Fire Department is planning to build a new fire station on Hwy. 90—next to the Iowa Family Dollar in town. The new station will have sleeping quarters, utility rooms and showers for volunteers and will help improve response times in areas once slowed by a train. 7 KPLC
- ➤ The Supreme Court seemed divided Monday over a challenge to Louisiana’s congressional map — which added a second Black majority district — and several conservative justices said they may vote to throw out the map to limit Voting Rights Act lawsuits; a decision is expected by late June.
