- ➤ The town of Welsh honored three local young men on Saturday, March 7, after they saved a man injured in January when his boat capsized on Lacassine Bayou. Tyler Broussard + Jaxson Meche + Beau Hixson earned recognition at a council meeting for their quick response. The American Press

- ➤ Tech giants Meta & Amazon are building major data centers in north Louisiana as state & local officials provide billions in tax breaks to attract jobs & investment; Meta broke ground on a $27 billion campus while Amazon plans a $12 billion facility near Shreveport. The Advocate
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Bell City's Bruins lost 51-50 to Pitkin in the Class B championship game on Friday at the LHSAA tournament in Hammond while Pitkin earned its first state title since 1995. The American Press
- ➤ Washington-Marion beat John F. Kennedy 68-52 in its final game at Clyde Wilkins Gym — they earned a spot in the state tournament for the first time since 2017. They will face No. 2 Peabody in the Select Division II semifinals on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Burton Complex. The American Press
- ➤ Late last night, LaGrange lost to Wossman in the state final (Mar. 7) as they were unable to mount a comeback, ending their season. 7 KPLC
- ➤ Westlake ended its season in the state tournament on Friday in Hammond after losing 44-36 to French Settlement in the Non-select Division III finals. The Rams shot 44 percent from the field but struggled with cold spells that cost them key runs near the end of the game. The American Press
- ➤ The McNeese Cowgirls defeated Lamar 8-0 in a 5-inning game on Saturday, Mar. 7 at Joe Miller Field (Beaumont) as they improved to a 19-7 record while chasing an unprecedented fifth straight Southland Conference title.
