  • The Lacassine Cardinals have rallied to a 16-game win streak after an early-season slump caused by injuries and lineup changes. Coach Micah Rasberry said the team is shifting its offense and defense — forging a new identity after key players graduated.  The American Press
  • Moss Bluff teen Owen Abrahams broke the teen axle deadlifting record by lifting 327.65 pounds (up from 297.6 pounds) at G.I. Joe’s Gym; he will try to set a new mark at the Arnold Sports Festival Classic in Ohio later.  7 KPLC
  • A SWLA teen broke the axle deadlifting record at a recent competition + the feat shows rising youth strength in local sports.  7 KPLC
  • Lake Charles College Prep beat LaGrange 43-29 on its home court Friday — two key defensive stands turned the game. Evan Burns led with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Trailblazers claimed their ninth win in 10 games.  The American Press
  • Washington-Marion senior Monte Farmer led his team to an eighth win on Tuesday with 22 points, nine rebounds, six steals and four blocks, topping his season averages (17.5 points, 11 rebounds, 4.5 assists and four blocks per game) as he enters his final year.  The American Press
