- ➤ Verizon service disruptions have left customers in Lake Charles with unreliable phone & internet connections. The outage began around 11 a.m. yesterday and teams are working to restore service. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Southwest Louisiana celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy with a series of events starting Jan. 16. A memorial breakfast at L’Auberge Casino Resort and a music honors night on Opelousas will be held before Jan. 19's parade, vendor market and gumbo cookoff at the Lake Charles Event Center. 7 KPLC

- ➤ Johnny Lacombe has donated blood since 1987 and given 191 units as donations dropped from 50 to about 5 units per drive, health officials say. LifeShare will host a donation event on Jan. 22 and 23 at 214 Dr. Michael Debakey Drive where donors get a free king cake. 7 KPLC
