Ekphrastic Art and Poetry Night

About this event

Ekphrastic Art

(ek-FRAS-tik)

An ekphrastic work is a piece of writing—most often a poem—that vividly describes, interprets, or responds to a work of visual art.

Definition and Origin

Meaning: The term comes from the Greek words ek (meaning "out") and phrasis (meaning "to speak" or "declare"), literally translating to "speaking out" or describing an object exhaustively.

Creative Roots plans to brings this to life in our next Art and Poetry Night held on Nov 7th 2026 1pm-5pm.

This time at art and poetry night I want to do something a little different. We are pairing together artists and poets anonymously to compose a duet of sorts. Where a poem will be mirrored by the eyes of an artist and an art piece will be given a voice by a poet.

Artists and poets will be partnered anonymously and revealed on opening night!

We have reached out to 20 local artists and authors and we can NOT wait to show off their talents!

Along with our art gallery we will also have live music, finger foods, and our tea room will be available as well!

We will be having spoken word and open mic starting @4pm

other easter eggs to be announced.

Don't forget you can park in the back of the building or our neighboring plaza (after 12pm)

This is a free event but if you ever feel called to donate to the cause of art and community we are ever so thankful. Tips jars are located in the tea room and at our register system.
